The Delphis Dart18 World Championship is about to start. From
Monday July 25th about 90 teams from 9 countries will race each
other off the coast of Knokke in Belgium. This year the event has a
special touch as 35 years of International Dart 18 sailing is been
celebrated.
The Dart 18 is a radical and at the same time friendly Catamaran
Class which was created 35 years ago by Rodney March, the designer
that is also responsible for the design of the former Olympic
Tornado Catamaran. The class is recognized by the International
Sailing Federation (ISAF) as a one design class.
This Dart 18 worlds will see more competitors taking part than
any other one design Catamaran class in the world. The Dart 18 is
sailed by a crew of 2 persons.
Among the entries there are several top sailors like the World
Champions of 2008 and 2009 Emmanuel Dodé and Fred Monreau from
France, the team that won the 2007 Worlds Dan Norman en Melanie
Rogers (GBR) and the ex World Champions from 2004 Thierry en
Christine Wibeaux (FRA). Also the ruling English and Dutch
Champions Alan and Fiona Kernick from Great Britain will start the
event.

The Championships are organised by the Royal Belgium Sailing Club
(RBSC) Het Zoute in Knokke, a sailingclub with loads of experience
with International top sailing events. During the event it will be
possible to follow the sailors live with a GPS track system on
webstite www.dart18worlds2011.com.
In addition to the title sponsor Delphis Container Transport,
this years Dart18 Worlds Championships are supported by
