Today saw medium winds with a lumpy sea at the Delphis Dart 18
World Championships at Knokke Belgium. The first race got away on
the first attempt as the tide was holding the fleet back from the
line. Emmanuel Dode and Fred Moreau (FRA) had a good start and led
from start to finish. Thierry and Christine Wibaux (FRA) where hard
on there heels with Herve le Maux and Tory Hackman (FRA/GBR) taking
third.
Race 2 of the day got away with a bit more wind. Most of the fleet
tacked out to sea as soon as possible to try and benefit from the
tide. The team of Dode and Moreau rounded the windward mark first
but were soon overtaken by Alan and Fiona Kernick(GBR) who led till
the end of the race. Team Le Maux and Hackman finish second with
Dode and Moreau third.
This leaves the top three boats all very close after 4 races:
1. Emmanuel Dodé – Fred Moreau (FRA), 11 pts.
2. Alan Kernick – Fiona Kernick (GBR), 13 pts.
3. Thierry Wibeaux – Christine Wibeaux (FRA), 13 pts.
